Maya Ragazzo is an interdisciplinary artist born and raised in Los Angeles and is known for her versatile creative skills that take form in mediums including photograms, stop-motion animation, oil painting, printmaking, and photography. Maya has built a career in niche professions, working as a CNC operator, a professional 1:87 scale model maker, a chandelier builder, and an improvised experimental stop-motion animator. She often collaborates with musicians to bring their visual concepts to life. Most recently, Maya received the Anthropologie x YoungArts Leading with Creativity award, granting her the opportunity to design, manufacture, and sell an apparel line through Anthropologie's curated online marketplace.
In her personal artistic endeavors, Maya delves into the intricacies of the human spirit, mysticism, and isolated intimacy through her artistic expressions. Drawing inspiration from folk art, she curates a distinctive collection of recurring characters and motifs that resonate with the shared threads of human existence. Maya's upcoming series aims to explore the nuanced landscape of the human psyche, providing a visually comforting space for navigating the complexities of the mind and the subtleties of madness. This interest in madness was sparked after Maya experienced a psychotic episode in 2020 & 2025, which deepened her understanding of the human condition and ignited her interest in how art can help prevent psychosis in those who are susceptible.
